Community Living Kincardine & District was founded in 1963 by a group of dedicated parents and families

The Lambert, Stone-Lamont, Ferguson, Witting and Threndyle families worked together to create an organization that could provide services to individuals with developmental disabilities in Kincardine.  A school was started in the basement of the Kincardine Knox Church with 7 students and the first residential home was established on Princes St in the 1980’s.

In 2013, CLKD celebrated 50 years of inspiring possibilities

To mark our 50th Anniversary, a Community Celebration was held at the Davidson Centre in September 2013.  Several members of the Founding Families were honored and photo albums featuring individuals, families and events from the past 50 years were on display.  The Municipality of Kincardine presented Community Living Kincardine & District with the Order of Kincardine in recognition of 50 years of dedicated service to the community.
